Malbec
Pampas de Sur Malbec |
Don Bernardino Malbec |
Argentina’s emblematic grape. Originally grown in the southeast of France, this grape has turned into the premier wine from Argentina where it has found the most propitious ecological feature for its development.
It acquires different features according to the weather and soil conditions where it is grown.
In the Maipú area, Mendoza province, reaches its highest development surpassing other regions in the country. It produces wines of pleasant taste, medium body with certain earthy notes and intense purple color.
Argentina’s Malbec has become worldwide known, according to Mr. Philippe Coulon, Head of Enology at Moët & Chandon (France) "... Argentinian Malbec has to be a top international wine resulting from the fact of its being very distinctive of the winemaking in that country. Both Cabernet and Chardonnay are grown everywhere, whereas the Malbec grape is hardly found elsewhere in the world, and never with the quality of the one cultivated in Argentina. When it
comes to grapes every region has its own: Chardonnay is akin to Burgundy, Pinot Noir stands for Champagne, and Argentina's Malbec is this wine's present flagship"...
